When you think of skiing holidays, a trip to the spa might not spring immediately to mind, but snow fans have been combining luxury spas with their skiing holidays since the wealthy Europeans began travelling en masse to the Alps to benefit from the healthy, rejuvenating climate.

The large wellness area here is 1,200 square-metres and offers a comprehensive spa service, including Ayurvedic treatments, hot stone therapy and beauty baths for the ultimate in relaxation. Over in Austria, the hotel Madlein in Ischgl has a wonderful spa set in breathtaking surroundings. The Madlein has even created a Zen-like garden complete with fog machine to create the illusion of a steamy, far-east forest setting.
