As we’ve seen over the last few weeks and months, employment laws in Switzerland have changed. UK ski tour operators, (many of whom for years have paid many of their staff the UK minimum wage,) are now legally obliged to pay UK-resident staff working winter seasons in Swiss resorts the national Swiss minimum wage.

 

Following a seismic shift in Swiss employment laws, UK chalet operators are turning their backs on the slopes and ski resorts of Switzerland in droves.

 

Sometimes, even for the most seasoned of skiers, a trip up the Pic Blanc Telepherique in Alpe d’Huez to the dizzying heights of the glacier is a bit of a daunting task. You pop out at 3330 metres to face the elements with just your skis and your expertise to get you safely back down to earth.
