Swiss National Day celebrates the Swiss Confederacy. The date signifies the Federal Charter of 1291, August 1st. Swiss National Day has been an official holiday since 1994 and is celebrated enthusiastically throughout Switzerland.

The Federal Charter was a mutual defense agreement between Schwyz, Unterwalden and Uri, after the death of Rudolf I of Habsburg.

Bastille Day is an annual commemoration of the Storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution. The day is also known as French National Day and La Fête Nationale. It is the oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe, held every July 14th at the Champs-Élysés avenue in Paris. Many high authority figures attend the parade, including the president of France.
